Life on the Road: A Driver’s Perspective in 2025
At Fresh Freight, our drivers are not just moving freight; they are keeping promises. Every shipment of temperature-sensitive goods represents a grower’s hard work, a retailer’s expectation, and a family’s dinner table. Behind the wheel, our drivers balance all three every single day.
We sat down with Mike, who has been with Fresh Freight for nearly a decade, to hear how the job has evolved.
“Every load is different,” Mike says. “You have to stay sharp because one day it is produce coming out of California and the next it is frozen goods headed to the East Coast. The challenge keeps the work interesting.”
The daily reality of a driver’s work stretches far beyond miles logged. Tight schedules mean early morning check-ins at loading docks, adapting when appointments shift, and keeping freight secure through stretches of unpredictable weather. Every delivery requires more than horsepower; it takes judgment, communication, and focus.
The commitment goes both ways. Fresh Freight’s dispatch and operations teams work around the clock to support drivers, making sure they have updated route information, backup plans for delays, and the resources to keep loads on track.
“It feels good to know I am not out here alone,” Mike adds. “I have a whole team behind me, and that makes the tough days a lot easier.”
For us, highlighting drivers is more than storytelling. It is a reminder that logistics is a people business. The technology, the data, and the planning all come together on the road, in the hands of professionals who take pride in their work.
